PART TWO – What is your personal why?

What is your why? Wow. This simple question is such a deep and thought provoking question. Simon Sinek has covered this simple question in many different forms (book, youtube, TedTalk, etc.) and does it so well. The essence of figuring out your why is to figure out who you are at the core. What makes you the person you are? What makes you tick? And what is your offering to the world around you? This is easier for some to answer than others. It is very personal and can dive deep into your soul to really understand your core being.

While I have wrestled with nailing down my why, I know a large part of it is doing everything I can to help people become the best version of themselves they can be and cultivate an environment that supports this. While this is my personal why, it is also what drives the motivation behind creating a great culture at work. But it also frames how I want to be with my family and friends as well.

I don’t know what your why is, but I know it is in there. You are a contributor to the world around you and there are people in your circle that are fortunate to have you in their lives. If you want to go down this path of truly understanding your why, ask those close to you. Try to dig down into the details of that distinction that makes you who you are. We are all unique, but all bring something to the table, and knowing what that is a step of being the best version of ourselves we can be. While there is plenty more that you bring to the world that your why, it is that why that has the ability to be the driving force behind how you pave the path in this world we live in.
